Developing standards for the internet is the World Wide Web Consortium. This international organization also helps in education and outreach and develops software for the web. The World Wide Web Consortium is headed by Tim Berners-Lee, the primary architect of the original specifications/technologies utilized by the World Wide Web, including HTTP, URLs, and HTML.
